Dabsyl is used as a quencher for fluorophores with emission maxima from 450 to 550 nm and is commonly incorporated into oligonucleotide probes for quantitative real-time PCR.

Applications
Dabsyl is used as a fluorescence quencher for fluorophores with emission maxima from 450 to 550 nm. For fluorophores with emission maxima above 550 nm, quenching efficiency decreases. Dabsyl is most often incorporated into oligonucleotide probes used for quantitative real-time PCR.
