Human repeat-sequence and microsatellite analysis
Repeat-length and repeat-count analysis by capillary electrophoresis
For selected genetic markers, SYNTOL provides assays in which the analytical result is obtained after PCR and capillary electrophoresis. Available assays include DHM-200 for UGT1A1 TA repeats, DHM-201 for AR CAG repeats, and DHM-205 for HTT CAG repeats.
The page is organized around the measured marker and analytical method. It helps laboratories select an assay by gene and repeat type, proceed to capillary electrophoresis, and obtain a repeat-length or repeat-count result without automatically extending that result into a clinical conclusion.
Laboratory tasks
- determine TA-repeat number in the UGT1A1 promoter region;
- determine CAG-repeat number in the AR gene;
- determine CAG-repeat number in exon 1 of HTT;
- select an assay for PCR followed by capillary electrophoresis;
- select a documented fragment-analysis platform;
- open the current instruction for a specific DHM assay;
- request fragment analysis or training.

The result describes repeat length or repeat count for a specific marker. By itself, it does not establish diagnosis, risk, prognosis, treatment response, or treatment selection. Clinical thresholds and associations are used only where directly supported by current documentation for the specific product.
